Fishing at Hinchinbrook
We had a 2 week holiday up at Hinchinbrook for in November 2007. We stayed this time at a lovely resort house at Port Hinchinbrook at Cardwell.
The fishing was fantastic. We hired a guide early in the holiday to explorer the lower end of Hinchinbrook channel and learn some new fishing skills. He showed us the 'secret' of trowling lures and we are hooked. We both caught Barramundi. Greg caught his biggest ever at 85cm and Julie her first at 76cm. Quite a few got away by using the customary tail walk and head flick. A very exciting day.
We spent another 8 days on the water putting our new learned skill and a few of our previous techniques into practice. Quite a range of fish were caught ranging from Estuary Cod and Mangrove Jack, to Trevally. We had a ball.
We hope to soon put the trolling technique into practice at Maaroom.
