Maaroom
Back in February 2009 we purchased a holiday / fishing shack at Maaroom. Now you probably haven't heard of Maaroom but it is a little fishing village 20km south of Maryborough on the Tin Can Bay Road. There are about 100 houses, the village is borded by bushland with abundant wildlife such as kangaroos and birds.
The block is 1011 sq mts and it has a shed on it that is fitted out with all the basics you need such as kitchen, bathroom, power, sewerage system, tank, etc. It even has a messanine floor for the bedrooms. We don't quite have views of the Sandy Straits but we are only 500m from the boat ramp ( see below) and the fishing is great.
Over the past year we have been busy fixing the place up. We now have walls around the bathroom so you don't shower in public. A new hot water system was installed and curtains have been put up on all windows. We have closed in the awning on the left side for a lockable storage area and have moved the laundry from the bathroom into this area. We have now lined just about everything except for the northern wall. We are still to finish the painting but the whole place looks 100% on what it looked before and we are really happy with the result. Hopefully we can get down to some serious fishing soon.
The neighbours are all very friendly and our closest ones keep a keen eye on the place when we are not there.
